On Tuesday, January 5th we were anticipating the outcome of the runoff elections in Georgia. Today on January 6th we realized a goal and a hope that as many Democrats as possible would participate in the runoff election. The winners Raphael Warnock & Jon Ossoff will determine the fate of our Senate. As Nancy Pelosi stated that we are “One People, and One Destiny”. It is our hope that the new Senate will help us reach this goal.
The United States has been in desperate need of new leadership. The leadership that we currently have has been in office for many many years and they have lost touch with the American people. We need individuals that will hear our needs, that will respond to our request and that will ensure that our livelihood is well protected.
I am not sure as to why it is so hard for elected officials to remember from whence they came. They were once working class Americans like the rest of us. In July 2020 57% of the population was unemployed and now in January of 2021 30-40 million people may be evicted. There is more than 49% of the population who need financial support during this difficult pandemic. There are people who have lost their jobs, those that have been furloughed from their jobs and due to these uncertainties they are unsure of how they are going to pay their rent or mortgage. Our citizens shouldn’t have to worry about any of their needs as we send money every pay period to pay taxes. In this moment when we need our government to see us and to understand our needs the favor is not being returned. Citizens shouldn’t be worried about how they are going to survive day to day. We are already fighting to live and not die due to COVID-19. That fight is stressful enough.
Representatives need to be held accountable for their actions. On Tuesday, January 5th the people of the United States in the form of voters are stood up. Voters spoke through their votes and showed the country’s leadership who was in charge. We are looking for great support from our United States Government and for there to be a turn around so that the people can get the help they so desperately need. Thank you Georgia for speaking loud and clear and pushing our country, the Great United States, forward to positively improve the future for all United States Citizens.
